Ayahuasca is an extremely potent and ancient psychedelic brew from South America. Although the brew may vary, it always contains DMT (dimethyltryptamine) or 5-MeO-DMT and an MAOi to make the DMT orally active. When the DMT and MAOi are not from natural sources it is referred to colloquially as pharmahuasca.
Ingredients[]
Although it varies, it perhaps best made from Syrian Rue (the MAOi) and Mimosa hostilis. However Syrian Rue is hard to keep down, often there's a purge. For a more subtle experiece replace Syrian Rue with Banisteriopsis caapi. There is a plant called Ayahuasca which was traditionally used as the MAOi, however Syrian Rue is much stronger, cheaper and easier to ingest.
Effects[]
The effects of Ayahuasca are undeniably as strong as LSD if not stronger. It tends to be less visual than LSD or Shrooms, but is very cerebral and intense. Unlike the comedown of acid, most users enjoy the comedown from Ayahuasca.
Traditionally the drink is accompanied by strong nausea and vomiting. This is often considered part of the experience, although it does not necessarily need to be that way. If the drink containing Mimosa Hostilis is left to sit for 24 hours, allowing whatever plant matter that was not filtered out to settle, you can pour off the liquid and it will cause significantly less nausea. The drink should be purple, but no longer as translucent (so the drink is a clear purple, not a murky purple).
Be careful what you eat before taking an MAOi.
